The amateur PL community today creates one laughable PL after the next, exactly because noone cares. And some of these languages then become successful, and fuck up my life, because I may be forced to use them to access some library or script some program. If yelling at the kids prevents just one language with broken closures from emerging, I’ve succeeded.

Where I can see the comparison between Art and Programming failing is when a programmer is using a high level language or using an API or for example Ruby on Rails. If you really want to call yourself a software “artist”, you should go back to the old traditions—draw your own fonts, draw your own “windows”.

Follow Up of the Day: In case you forgot, today was WWII vet William J. Lashua’s birthday party. Above is a photo of Lashua posing in front of a pile of cards and other gifts he received from well-wishers who responded to 4chan’s call to brighten his special day, along with a photo of the man of honor greeting a group of comely party crashers in person.
Happy birthday, William! May you live as long as you like.
[4chan.]
UPDATE: More photos and a report from a /b/tard who was there can be found here.

Chrome has this annoying feature of only rendering a loaded page when you switch to that tab. Fine when my CPU has low load, annoying when it’s under high load.

If you need more than 3 levels of indentation, you’re screwed anyway, and should fix your program.
