Minors will be banned from having intimate body... →
“Attorney-General Rob Hulls said the new laws would help protect young people as body art increased in popularity.” If the minor and their guardian both consent I”m not sure what these young people are being protected from.

Yes, police should be equiped with the required equipment to subdue someone that is acting in a manner that endangers others. But this should be a last resort before which there are lots of options for non-violent resolution of the conflict.

Pope Benedict XVI uses Christmas message to attack... →
“Enforced celibacy was cooked up against the order of nature, causes much unnecessary heartache, and is something the Pope can fix,” Senator Brown said. …religion isn’t really religion if you can just annouce changes at will. Sex before marriage is apparently a sin in the eyes of god, the pope saying it’s not wouldn’t change that.

Internet filtering plan may extend to peer-to-peer... →
This guy gets more and more stupid everytime he opens his mouth. Deep packet inspection of all internet traffic within Australia? yeah, that’s going to work well. I imagine that next addition to the plan will be to block all SSL traffic(or make encryption ilegal), you know, to stop people trying to get around the filters.

Five Strangest Programming Languages - Malbolge →
“Malbolge is the hardest language to program in, hands down. Using it is more like cracking a code than writing a program. The meaning of every character depends on its position and the preceding characters. All variables are in ternary. The only operation is the “crazy” operation, which changes a number using a seemingly random table of values.”

Cartoon porn kids are people - News.com.au →
This shit is getting out of hand. The reason the distribution and possesion of child pornography was made illegal was apparently to reduce demand child porn. Which was thought to have the knock on effect of reducing exploitation and abuse of children. I am certain it’s impossble to abuse a fictional character…and Bart simpson is at least 20 by now.

Python Makes Me Nervous - Ted Dziuba →
I’d have to agree. Python is awesome and such but the safety of static typing and checked exceptions is really nice. But Java’s way of doing things is terrible. Why does Java have a NullPointerException anyway?

Red pen too aggressive for marking, Queensland... →
Maddness! How about having people understand that tests are to test the teacher not the student and to inform the teacher where the student currently is in their understanding of the topic. This pass-fail culture we have with learning is ridiculous
